Yeah, I know. Does it really qualify? Should it even be a consideration on The Mince Pie Review? Yes, absolutely it should. This will be one of a few alternatives reviewed in 2018 as everyone knows at least someone (probably half your family) who doesn’t like the traditional MP.
Calpol. Soap. Rennie. 3 of the comparisons made in the office when these pies were handed out. Another point of feedback was the chunk to sauce ratio, or C2S as we’ll refer to it in future. A disappointingly low C2S is a concern for this pie as the vast majority of the filling is a glistening pink slime. It’s a very sweet slime and once you get past the taste of medication/indigestion tablet, it’s not that bad. Your Nan probably won’t approve of it’s likeness to radioactive sugary vaseline, kids probably will.
A plus point is the sugar on top, another negative though is poor design, they look half done both in decoration and colour. I’m regretting giving these things a review now, so that’s enough – 3/10, I think.
