Sainsbury’s Deep Filled Mince Pies – 5/10

It’s 2018 and we’re back, heading straight for the ‘6 for £1’ bracket – AKA the Budget Zone, the Quid Shed, the Pounders. Sainsbury’s cheap option is all about one thing – SEPARATION. Each sultana, each raisin, the pastry all feel so separate in the eating process. No real effort into this filling, very basic taste, no spice, just feels like 7 sultanas and some of the jammy shit. Limited sugar on the roof and despite all this, it’s not the worst pie ever. The pastry saves this one slightly, it’s buttery, slightly ‘melty’. Still a fucking 5/10 though, Sainers. Come on, sort that filling out.
